Flight schools are businesses that offer aircraft rental for pleasure or instruction. This type of risk may also have ancillary exposures such as fueling operations, aircraft repair services, charter services, sales of supplies, and complex training in specialized aircraft or simulators. Flight schools differ from flying clubs because the entity is for profit and is used by the general public, so the number of insured pilots is virtually unlimited. Flight school insurance provides property coverage for the rental aircraft as well as the liability stemming from their operation including any passengers who are on board. Additional coverages that may be included are mechanical breakdown coverage, hurricane repositioning reimbursement and coverage for substitute aircraft.
