While your driving school provides quality driver training, American Specialty can provide quality insurance solutions tailored to your unique risks in motorsports operations.

Overview of the Motorsports Driving Schools Insurance Program

American Specialty Insurance & Risk Services offers a dedicated Motorsports Driving Schools Insurance program designed for the complex, high-exposure world of performance driving, club events, and race operations. As a managing general underwriter, American Specialty combines program-specific forms and in-house underwriting with claims and risk management support so brokers can place accounts with confidence.

Ideal Accounts and Eligible Operations

This program fits a broad range of motorsports-related operations, including:

  • Closed-course driving schools and track-day facilities
  • Performance and experiential driving programs
  • Race teams, sanctioning bodies, and event organizers
  • Independent car clubs and club-run events
  • Super speedways and multi-use racing complexes

Typical accounts that place well have established safety procedures, trained instructors, documented vehicle inspection programs, and emergency response plans. Risks that generally do not fit the program are unregulated street racing operations or facilities lacking basic safety controls.

Coverage Highlights and Advantages

The program offers a comprehensive suite of coverages tailored for motorsports operations. Highlights include:

  • Admitted coverage options supported by carriers rated “Excellent” or higher by A.M. Best
  • Program-specific forms and rating that reflect motorsports exposures
  • Participant legal liability and participant accident medical / catastrophic coverage
  • General liability, excess/umbrella, automobile, property, liquor, crime, and employee benefits liability
  • Workers compensation and deductible / self-insured retention options
  • 24-hour claims service and in-house claims handling for faster response
  • Online resources and tools to streamline submissions and servicing

How this helps your insureds

This program helps manage the primary exposures of motorsports operations — participant injury, third-party liability, auto and property damage, and catastrophic medical costs. The in-house team can tailor limits, endorsements, and SIR/deductible structures to match the size and sophistication of the account.

Underwriting Notes and Minimum Premiums

All risks are underwritten in-house, which supports quicker turnaround and direct access to underwriting questions. Minimum premiums and final terms vary by state, account size, and exposure. Provide details on operations, safety programs, instructor qualifications, and past loss history to obtain the most competitive terms.

Territories and Availability

This program is available nationwide — in all 50 states and Washington D.C. Agents across the U.S. can place motorsports driving school, club, and event business through American Specialty where the operations meet the program’s safety and underwriting standards.

Why Work With American Specialty

As a niche managing general underwriter, American Specialty provides hands-on service and deep motorsports experience. Strengths include:

  • In-house underwriting, claims, risk management and policy administration — one point of contact
  • Access to admitted markets with program-specific forms and competitive capacity
  • Dedicated motorsports expertise that understands instructor-led training, track operations, and event logistics
  • Online quoting and resources to simplify placements

You might have a client who runs a regional performance driving school with instructor-led sessions and loaner cars, or a club that hosts monthly track days with volunteer marshals — both are examples of accounts this program is designed to serve.

AGENCY LICENSING

Licensing
Each state’s regulatory department requires licensing for any broker soliciting coverage within that state. Failure to maintain proper licensing status can result in penalties not only to the broker, but also to the insurer. Therefore, in addition to the completed Broker Agreement, we require that you provide the following:

1.      A copy of your resident license and, if applicable, non-resident licenses for each state in which you have an account insured with our program.

2.      A copy of your agency’s corporate license issued by your state's Department of Insurance.
